Festival-Goers Launch Petition Calling For Lost Picnic To Be Shut Down

Punters are calling for Sydney festival Lost Picnic to be shut down after this year’s event faced a number of complaints.

As The Music points out, festival-goers have created a Facebook page ‘Make Lost Picnic the Last Picnic’ alongside a petition that calls for the festival to be shut down because the organisers are “rip-off merchants.”

People on the Facebook page are claiming that the festival had extremely long wait times to purchase food and go to the bathrooms. There are also claims that they mislead punters by saying that purchasing a hamper for the festival would be “the only way to dine”. Then, at the festival, people were able to buy food from vendors.

The petition’s aim is to, “prevent unscrupulous music festival promoters from taking advantage of honest people.”

“There were roughly 9000 people at the Lost Picnic at the Domain on the 15th October 2017. The vast majority left feeling extremely frustrated and ripped off,” it further reads.

“They have a history of running dodgy money-grabbing events. They then delete all negative comments from social media, block their knockers, and do it all over again six months later to the next bunch of unsuspecting punters. We want to hold them accountable and save future festival goers from these rip-off merchants.”

Many of the punters on the Facebook page have also lodged complaints with the NSW Fair Trading.

Following numerous complaints about long wait-times at the festival among other things, festival organisers took to Facebook to apologise writing, “We sincerely apologise for the long wait times and agree there were numerous operational issues on the day.”

“We will be addressing all of these well in advance of next year.”

This year’s festival was headlined by Fat Freddy’s Drop and also featured local acts like Sarah Blasko and Montaigne.

The organisers behind Lost Picnic also run NYE festival Lost Paradise which is due to host a lineup this year including RÜFÜS and Matt Corby.
