Foals On Filming ‘Late Night’ Clip – “We Thought We Killed A Romanian Dude”

What was meant to be a harmless but well-acted scene involving a noose suddenly turned way too real on the set for Foals latest clip Late Night. In a recent interview, the band have explained that they were shocked at how well the actor portrayed being hanged, until they realised he was…actually being hanged.

Speaking to NME in a behind-the-scenes interview, guitarist Jimmy Smith tells of the moment things became a bit too realistic:

“In the suicide scene the guy actually hung himself by mistake, which was pretty bonkers. We were watching it on the screens next door and it was really realistic, we thought he was doing an amazing job acting. Then he started clawing at the belt and went all limp. Nabil had his head in his hands and we all thought we had killed a Romanian dude.”

According to drummer Jack Bevan, there’s a strong suspicion that the sex scenes shot for the video might also be a bit too realistic. “There’s sex. Possibly actual sex – nobody really knows. At first it wasn’t, but who knows by the end? That was happening in the room next to us so we were about 10 feet away watching a couple who had never met one another sort of maybe having actual sex.”

Late Night can be found on the band’s latest album Holy Fire, and is due for release as a single on 22nd April. You can check out the new NSFW clip below.
