Footage of an Atlanta show from Britney Spears’ Piece of Me tour has emerged online. It shows her being forced to perform while sick, with her saying she had a fever of 102°. That’s 38.9° C.
On stage with her dancers, Britney announces, “It’s going to be really, really hot up here. I’m warning you.”
“I’m sick, so I have literally a 102° fever right now.”
The footage was shared to Twitter by a fan, Zachary Gordon. He wrote, “Dear [Britney Spears]… I feel like we owe you an apology.”
“We bought into the whole hype of BRITNEY the performer, without much consideration for how Britney Jean Spears, the person, was coping through each day. Looking back now, I remember you saying this in front of me…”
He admitted that at the time he had thought, “Wow, she’s such a trooper and cares so much to put on a show for her fans.”
“Now I can see with clear eyes that this was a dig at the people controlling you,” he wrote. “Making you go onstage, performing under high powered lights, all while you had a high-grade fever.”
The tweet comes after Britney’s courtroom address yesterday, where she called her conservatorship “abusive” and requested it end.
In her address, she specified that her conservators had made her perform while she was sick.
Yesterday, Britney Spears said, “I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy. It’s a lie. I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatised.”
