After rumours about impending Frank Ocean Splendour sideshows started flying early this afternoon, we now have official confirmation that the Odd Future cohort and Lost singer will be making his way to Sydney and Melbourne while in town for the Byron Bay winter festival.
An event created on the Niche Productions Facebook page confirmed the tour minutes before an official press release hit our inbox. With the official word, we can now expect to see Mr Ocean live at Festival Hall in Melbourne on Friday, 26th July before he heads to Splendour, then hitting up Sydney the following Monday, 29th July, playing the Hordern Pavilion.
2012 was a stellar year for Frank Ocean, with his debut album Channel Orange being warmly embraced by Australians, with three tracks hitting triple j’s Hottest 100, including Lost at number 8, and the album peaking at number 9 on the ARIA Charts. With his SITG appearance and now a couple of huge headlining shows, it looks like Frank Ocean will be cementing his place in hearts Down Under for some time to come.
