Frank Ocean Teases New Music with Instagram Story

Frank Ocean fans were sent into a spiral of excitement as the reclusive artist has given hints of new music; this week, Ocean posted a picture of him in a studio, playing the bass on his Instagram Story. Since the critically acclaimed album ‘Blonde’ in 2016, many fans have been waiting for some new material from this enigmatic musician.

While Ocean has dropped a string of singles in the years since ‘Blonde’ — “DHL,” “In My Room,” “Cayendo,” and “Dear April” among them — a full new album has yet to surface. He’s also released unreleased music via his Apple Music 1 show, ‘Blonded Radio’, and even previewed a new song on Instagram last November.

Frank Ocean Teased His New Album At Coachella 2023 and then embedded a random Instagram post

In April 2023, Ocean teased a new album during his performance at Coachella. It marked the first time he had performed in six years; after coming on stage, he spoke cryptically: “I wanna talk about why we’re here… because it’s not about the new album… not that there’s NOT a new album.”.

After the long-awaited Coachella set, fans were made to wait upwards of an hour before being treated to only a hint that a full-length project was in the works from Ocean. It had previously been reported that Ocean preferred releasing music as singles rather than albums. An update to a recent poster accompanying his merchandise told a different story, stating he is now “again interested in more durational bodies of work.”

Now, with Ocean no longer signed to Def Jam Recordings, anticipation for an independent artist is at an all-time high. Until then, they’ll keep their eyes peeled for any more clues about his upcoming projects.
