Welsh post-hardcore quintet Funeral For A Friend have announced a return to Australia for a run of dates in April 2015 in support of forthcoming seventh album, Chapter and Verse. This tour will be the band’s seventh Australian visit since the release of their landmark debut, Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation.
Funeral For A Friend’s whirlwind tour Down Under will take in nine headline performances over 10 days, kicking off in Brisbane on 16th April and winding its way through most of the country to finish in WA. The band will be supported at most shows by Sydney “east coast feels” hardcore quintet, Vices. More guests are expected to be announced.
Speaking with Music Feeds recently, Funeral For A Friend vocalist Matthew Davies-Kreye reflected on Chapter and Verse, saying the band are enjoying a newfound comfort and understanding of their identity and what the band represents to fans. “We used to run to the hills when people would use our band name and the term ‘hardcore’ in the same sentence,” Davies-Kreye said.
He added: “It’s taken us so long to come around to it, and people still might not be comfortable with referring to Funeral for a Friend as a hardcore band as such. That’s where our roots are, though.
