Future Music Festival Clarifies Adelaide’s Underage Policy

Future Music Festival organisers have explained why their festival is 15+ in Adelaide and nowhere else in Australia. Sister festival Good Life, an exclusively underage event, will not be coming to Adelaide this year, despite expanding to Brisbane and Perth last year, and instead FMF 2015 will open its doors to punters aged 15 and up.

Organisers claim “holding separate events is not an option” for Adelaide, due to being “short a weekend day” when considering FMF’s tour schedule. Last year Good Life, which traditionally has an almost identical lineup to Future Music, hit Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and was held either the day before or the day after FMF.

It’s hoped the reduced Adelaide age restriction will allow more SA music fans to dance away to some of their favourite acts. Last year Future Music brought headliners like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Deadmau5, and Rudimental to town.

Being that Future Music Adelaide will now be a combination of mid-teens and above, organisers are reminding festival-goers that supplying minors with alcohol is illegal, and doing so will see you tarred and feathered, ejected from the festival, and prosecuted. If you are over 18 and wish to buy alcohol at the event you must bring a valid form of ID. There will be no adult-only designated drinking areas.

Basement Jaxx are rumoured to headline Future Music 2015, after telling Music Feeds they hope to tour Australia next February. We’ll know pretty soon with the Future Music Festival 2015 lineup out tomorrow, Wednesday, 22nd October.
