George Harrison’s First Electric Guitar Is Going Up For Auction

Ever wanted to own a sacred piece of music history? Well, if you have a spare USD $200,000 – $300,000, you can!

George Harrison‘s first ever electric guitar, and third guitar in total, is being put up for auction, Billboard reports. Julien’s Auctions says Harrison played the ‘Hoffner Club 40’ with The Beatles around Liverpool, way back when they were known as ‘The Quarrymen.’

Harrison actually donated the guitar to a band competition in 1965, and it was won by a member of a German band who passed away in 2017. His widow then put it up for auction, and it’s expecting to go somewhere between USD $200,000 – $300,000 when it’s auctioned at the Hard Rock Café in New York on 19 May.

Another guitar – a 1965 Fender Telecaster – that was played by the likes of Harrison, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan is also up for auction, and is expected to go for USD $400,000 – $600,000.
