Gillian Welch & David Rawlings Announce 2025 Australian Shows

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings have announced a series of shows in Sydney and Melbourne to take place across the final days of January 2025. The veteran Americana singer-songwriters will perform together across two nights at the Sydney Opera House on Friday, January 24th and Saturday, January 25th before heading to the Melbourne Recital Centre for three shows across Tuesday the 28th, Wednesday the 29th and Thursday the 30th.

Welch and Rawlings last toured Australia together in 2016, which came some 12 years after their first visit together circa 2004. In a unique touring format, the pair drove up the east coast together and back – playing Gillian Welch shows on the way up and playing Dave Rawlings Machine shows on the way down.

Last month saw the release of Woodland, the second album officially credited to both Welch and Rawlings after decades of each playing on the other’s records. Their debut album as a duo, All The Good Times (Are Past & Gone), was released in July of 2020 – just months after their titular Woodland Studios in Nashville was destroyed by a tornado. The studio was ultimately rebuilt, and the pair recorded Woodland in it and named the record as such in tribute.

A pre-sale for all five shows will run from 9am AEST tomorrow morning (Wednesday, September 11th). A general sale will then follow on Thursday, September 12th – again at 9am AEST. All ticketing information can be accessed via Love Police.
