UK indie-rock favourites Glass Animals have been forced to cancel their tour dates for the remainder of 2018, following a road accident in Dublin which left drummer Joe Seaward seriously injured.
The band say Seaward was hit by a truck while on his bike, became tangled in the truck’s trailer and suffered a broken leg on impact, as well as a complex skull fracture which resulted in part of his skull needing to be reshaped.
The band had upcoming tour dates in the US and Europe, but they’ve had to be cancelled as Seaward will need longer to recover.
“We are very sorry to say that, because of all of this, we will be cancelling our remaining shows this year,” frontman Dave Bayley said in a statement.
“Joe’s injuries are highly unlikely to heal in time to make any of them.
“It’s going to be a long, difficult, and winding road, but knowing how determined Joe is, and seeing how much his body has recovered already in the past 10 days, I am optimistic that he will make it back to his cheeky old self.”

Glass Animals were last in Australia for their exclusive run of Falls Festival 2017/2018 shows in support of their 2016 second studio album, How To Be a Human Being.
