Perth experimental music promoters Life Is Noise have announced that they will be bringing Portland, Oregon band GRAILS to Australian for the first time.
Instrumental rockers Grails have traversed vast musical plains since their conception as a side project by the name of Laurel Canyon in 2000. The name change accompanied the creation of their first full-length album in 2003, and Grails have released an album or more per year since, toying with various musical shapes and styles, making it tough for them to identify with a single genre.
The band’s music has earned comparisons to Ennio Morricone and the tag ‘spaghetti western post-rock’ but also sits well alongside contemporaries such as The Samuel Jackson Five and Captain Kickarse and the Awesomes.
They kick off their tour supporting post-rock giants TORTOISE in Melbourne, before joining the newly announced This Is Nowhere Festival in Perth and going on to an East Coast headline tour of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
