Grimes only released her last album Art Angels last November but she’s already halfway through work on a new record.
“I’m not committing to anything, but I have a bunch of B-sides I kind of want to finish. Plus, I’ve been making a bit of new music.”
Basically, it’s going to be a collection of B-sides that she considered putting on Art Angels but didn’t make the final cut.
“You know how Lana Del Rey put out Paradise Edition after Born To Die? It would be like that,” she said.
“There are songs I seriously considered for Art Angels, but they fucked with the momentum when I tried to put them on the record.”
Whereas Art Angels was a colourful, energetic affair, she’s promising “chill vibes, downtempos, synth-y shit,” on the new project.
“That makes it sound boring. It’s not boring,” she ensured.
Most critics agreed that Grimes’ Art Angels was one of the best records of last year. It came three years after her breakthrough LP Visions and was dropped with very little warning. You can almost expect that her upcoming project will be released in the same way.
