Grimes Announces New Album ‘Miss_Anthrop0cene’

Grimes has finally announced the title of her brand new album, and it’s called Miss_Anthrop0cene. Yep, sounds about right.

She took to Twitter to announce the news yesterday, but now, in a rare interview with Wall Street Journal, has given us more juicy details about the follow up to 2015’s Art Angels.

On Twitter, Grimes – who now apparently wants to be referred to as ‘c‘ – described the album as a “concept album about about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change.”

She later described the album as “ethereal nu-metal” and that her goal “is to make climate change fun.”

Speaking to WSJ, she explains what she meant.

“I want to make climate change fun. People don’t care about it, because we’re being guilted,” she said.

“I see the polar bear and want to kill myself. No one wants to look at it, you know? I want to make a reason to look at it. I want to make it beautiful.”

We haven’t gotten much new music from Grimes recently, so the album is certainly welcomed. We got lead single ‘We Appreciate Power’ last year, and earlier this week she gave us a demo of new song ‘Pretty Dark’ – which she assured us won’t feature on Miss_Anthrop0cene.

Miss Anthrop0cene will be out this winter. Read Grimes’ announcement post below.
