Half Of Astroworld Victims’ Families Have Rejected Travis Scott’s Funeral Payment Offer

According to a new investigation by Rolling Stone, half of the Astroworld victims’ families have rejected Travis Scott‘s offer to pay for the victims’ funerals.

The publication revealed earlier today that the family of the youngest victim, nine-year-old Ezra Blount,  rejected Scott’s offer. Blount died on Sunday, 14th November due to the horrific injuries he sustained during the tragic crowd surge at Astroworld that took the lives of ten people.

RS has since widened its investigation, now revealing that five out of the ten families (including the Blount’s) of the Astroworld victims have rejected Scott’s offer to cover the funeral costs.

The various attorneys who are representing the families of 21-year-olds Jacob Jurinek, Franco Patino and Axel Acosta, and 14-year-old John Hilgert have all expressed their opinion that Scott’s offer was more of a way to ease the pressure on his reputation than an authentic and genuine display of remorse.

“It was not an offer [the Hilgerts] were going to seriously consider,” says Hilger’s attorney Richard Mithoff. “Of all the things this case is about, that’s the least of any concern.

“This family is set on making change and ensuring this never happens at a concert again. I find offering to pay for funerals frankly demeaning and really inappropriate to the magnitude of the tragedy that unfolded.”

Philip Corboy, who is representing the families of friends Jurinek and Patino, says that he felt Scott contacting the families through his attorney was disingenuous.

“If he’s trying to impress upon the families that he’s sincere and has concern for them and realize that funerals can be expensive, what Scott’s team did is not the way to do it,” he said.

“You don’t get a piece of paper in the mail from a lawyer in Beverly Hills who says he represents Travis Scott. These families are raw right now; that lacks any personal touch.”

A representative for Scott declined to comment.

The lawyers representing the families of Bharti Shahani, Danish Baig, Madison Dubiski and Rudy Peña either declined to speak or did not reply to a request for comment.
