Say hello to Michelle Obama, the First Lady of awesome.
Mrs. POTUS has spent the majority of her husband’s presidency campaigning for gender equality and better access to education, and though his time in office is about to come to a close, her noble crusade shows no sign of slowing down.
After curating a playlist of female power anthems, Mrs. O has just dropped one of her very own, ahead of her keynote speech at this year’s SXSW festival, and it’s packing an ace in the hole in the form of Missy freaking Elliott.
Ahead of her presentation – which will be moderated by Queen Latifah and feature Elliott, Diane Warren, and Sophia Bush – the #FLOTUS has unveiled a charity single dubbed This Is For My Girls, which was written by Warren and features Elliott, Janelle Monaé, Kelly Rowland, Kelly Clarkson, Zendaya, Glee‘s Lea Michele and more.
The song is the soundtrack of Mrs. Obama’s Let Girls Learn initiative, which aims to shed light on the 62 million girls around the world who don’t have access to a proper education.
“This is for my girls all around the world,” goes the chorus. “Stand up and be heard.”

And for all you night owls, the First Lady’s SXSW speech will be live-streamed at 2:30 a.m. AEDT tomorrow.
