Thrash titans Slayer are back with a brand new slice of their forthcoming 6th studio LP, Repentless. It’s called Cast The First Stone and it is one brutal beast.
Released courtesy of Adult Swim, whom you might know as the guys that brought us such metal-themed cartoons as Metalocalpyse, the mid-tempo cut is sporting some machine-gun double kick, doomy guitars that kick into crushing riffery and an epically deranged solo, while frontman Tom Araya waxes lyrical about bloody vengeance.
Guitarist Kerry King previously told Rolling Stone that he got the idea for the song while walking around Greece, thinking about all of the bloodshed that took place there over the centuries.
“It’s just about battle, not a particular battle,” he said. “You cast the first stone, I’m gonna win.”
The follow-up to Slayer’s 2009 LP World Painted Blood is due to drop on Friday, September 11th, and also features previously released tunes When The Stillness Comes, Implode, and the disc’s title track, Repentless.
