Hip hop duo Run The Jewels have unveiled quick-spitting new track Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck), which features a powerful verse from Zack de la Rocha, vocalist of famed LA rock band Rage Against The Machine. The track appears on Run The Jewels’ forthcoming album RTJ2.
Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck), which premiered on Buzzfeed, can be streamed in full, below. Aside from La Rocha’s appearance, the track also features verses from Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike and El-P, complete with plenty of perfectly looped samples.
El-P, one side of Run The Jewels, told Buzzfeed that Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck) isn’t the duo’s first collaborative effort with La Rocha.
“We worked on music together in the late 90s after Rage [Against The Machine] broke up but it never came out,” El-P said. “We remained friends, though, and when I was in L.A. working on the record I bumped in to him literally on the way to the studio. He came by and listened to what we had and a day later was recording with us.”
RTJ2 will see an Australian release on 27th October. The duo’s other project, the cat-sampled remix release Meow the Jewels, is now up to $37,000 of its $45,000 Kickstarter goal. The duo will play Falls Festival 2014/2015, including co-headlining sideshows with Joey Bada$$.
