Here’s What Rihanna Covering Tame Impala Sounds Like

Who’da thunk that one day thousands of tween pop fans around the world would be listening to the music of Aussie psych-rock outfit Tame Impala?

But that’s what’s happening right now, thanks to Rihanna covering one of their songs on her brand spanking new album, ANTI.

Tame’s track New Person, Same Old Mistakes off their critically acclaimed Currents LP has been given a Ri-Ri makeover and included on the just-released follow up to the popstar’s 2012 Unapologetic album.

After being released on Tidal earlier today, a full version of the song has now surfaced online.

What does it sound like? Pretty much identical to the original except with – you know – Rihanna’s vocals in place of Kevin Parker’s, complete with same heavily saturated delay/reverb that KP uses the shit out of.

So it’s less Like A Version and more Like Exactly The Same Song.

Either way, you can check out Rihanna’s freshly squeezed cover – the more concisely titled Same Ol’ Mistakes – (via Brooklyn Vegan) alongside Tame Impala’s original, below.

It’s also available as a free download here.
