Hermitude are back – and they’re bringing a brand new record and a fresh round of dancefloor mayhem with them.
The globally adored Aussie electronic duo have announced their eighth studio album, appropriately titled EIGHT, arriving Friday 17 April. To celebrate, Elgusto and Luke Dubs will hit the road this May for a national run lighting up venues across Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney and Brisbane – transforming rooms into full-blown communal rave zones in the process.
Hermitude – ‘Over You’
Built around energy, simplicity and what the pair describe as “genre-maxxing”, EIGHT pulls from techno, breaks, UK garage and classic rave euphoria – all driven by a core belief that dancefloors still have the power to bring people together.
“Joy feels vital right now, almost like an act of rebellion,” the duo say. “The dancefloor has always been one of the few places where differences dissolve.”
The album’s title came to both members separately – drawn to the number eight as both a milestone and a symbol of infinity. Fitting, really, for a duo whose career now spans more than two decades and counting.
EIGHT continues Hermitude’s collaborative streak, featuring work with DEVAURA and Adrian Dzvuke, plus a blistering team-up with UK punk-rap duo Bob Vylan and a soaring anthem with IsGwan. Sonically, it’s been polished by renowned mastering engineer Matt Colton (Tame Impala, Aphex Twin, Little Simz, James Blake), while acclaimed artist Michael Askew has helped shape the album’s bold visual world – blending ancient symbolism with modern rave aesthetics.
The announcement follows recent singles ‘Over You’, ‘Royalty’ and ‘For The Night’, each hinting at the record’s expansive, high-energy direction.
It’s the latest chapter in a career that’s already seen Hermitude dominate stages from Coachella and Glastonbury to the Sydney Opera House, win the Australian Music Prize for Hyperparadise, and rack up hundreds of millions of streams worldwide – including the platinum smash ‘The Buzz’.
Now, with EIGHT on the horizon, they’re ready to do what they do best: turn dancefloors into shared moments of absolute release.
