Holy Holy, who are currently in the middle of a huge national tour, have just dropped their brand new single Elevator alongside juicy details of their upcoming second album Paint, which will reach our eager ears on 24th February.
Elevator (below) is full of arpeggiated synths, driving guitars and rockin’ drums. It’s current but it’s old school, it’s catchy but it’s also more experimental. For a band that has been steadily becoming more and more exploratory and progressive, Elevator most feels like a logical next step for Holy Holy. Lead guitarist and songwriter Oscar Dawson reflects on tracks creative process:
“I can’t recall how it germinated, but before we knew it we were playing this same two chords, over and over. And it built from there, like a conversation; starting softly, then bouncing around to become louder and louder… It had been caught on a phone when we were touring in Europe, and back in Australia we put it together and decided that, in fact, it is a song.”
Holy Holy have dropped Elevator (below) smack bang in the middle of their national tour, which has already seen them play packed out shows across the likes of Adelaide, Bunbury, Perth and Fremantle. Next up on the tour is Newcastle, with Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane to follow.
The first single off Paint, Darwinism, was very well received earlier this year, amid the group’s extensive touring that took them all around our country and overseas (of which we were lucky enough to receive a Euro Tour Photo Diary).
Lead vocalist Timothy Carroll says of their current Australian tour, “It’s great to be out on the road again – especially with a bunch of new tunes to try. We’re in the studio again in December so this a last chance to try some songs out before we get them carved in stone….or vinyl as the case may be.”
