There’s A Hot Theory That Future Is Coming To Australia For Listen Out 2017

UPDATE: The 2017 Listen Out Festival lineup has now been announced.

ORIGINAL STORY: Buckle up Future fans, ‘coz there’s some speculation going around that the ‘Mask Off’ rapper is primed to announce his first ever trip to Australia around this year’s Listen Out festival.

Warner Music blog Cool Accidents has posited the theory that the Future could be plotting his debut Aussie jaunt to coincide with the annual dance festival, pointing out the fact that he’s just announced a New Zealand show on 28th September, which is suspiciously smack-bang in the middle of this year’s Listen Out dates.

The sole Kiwi date would give the producer plenty of time to play the first weekend of Listen Out in Melbourne and Perth, jump across the ditch, and then return for the second weekend of the Aussie fest in Sydney and Brissie. Just sayin’.

Anyway, that’s the only hard evidence so far. But the internet is already getting carried away:

Besides, we’d be pretty bloody surprised if, having NEVER TOURED AUSTRALIA BEFORE, the heavyweight hitmaker would trek all the way to the other side of the world just to play a single one night stand in New Zealand. I mean, no offence, but c’mon.

What’s more, maybe Kendrick Lamar was trying to give us a sneaky heads-up when he name-checked Australia in the newly released ‘Face Off’ remix this week?

Fellow rapper Mac Miller has also announced a one-off New Zealand show in late September, so he’s in the running for this year’s Listen Out lineup as well.

Listen Out has declined to comment to Music Feeds about the rumours, but we’re told the festival’s 2017 lineup will be “coming soon”, after they teased the first act (which FYI wasn’t Future).

Stay tuned for more.
