Kendrick Lamar Gives Australia A Shout-Out On Remix Of Future’s ‘Mask Off’

Kendrick Lamar has just blessed and consecrated Australia’s hip-hop cred by giving us a shout-out in a guest verse he’s added to a freshly released remix of Future‘s chart-topping tune ‘Mask Off’.

The Compton MC’s newly added flow includes the line: “Half of y’all might need help/I might fall in Rodeo/I might ball in Australia/I might call her for real.”

Look, mum, we’ve made it!

Sadly, though, lyric annotation website Genius is trying to shit on our parade.

As Junkee points out, they’ve interpreted our big name-check as a slight upon our character. In their words: “Australia is a hot desert island at the ends of the earth in which little hip-hop culture exists. Kendrick boasts about his ambition and skill so much so that he will conquer even that godforsaken land.”

Well, then.

Guess they’ve never heard of Illy or 360 or Hilltop Hoods or A.B. Original or Kerser or Bliss N Eso or Drapht or — well — you get it.

JUST LET US ENJOY OUR MOMENT IN THE SUN GENIUS, YOU FUCKS.
