Hottest 100 Favourites Flume & Amy Shark Big Each Other Up Ahead Of This Year’s Countdown

UPDATE 26/01/17: The Hottest 100 of 2016 has begun! Follow the countdown live right here.

ORIGINAL STORY: Triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2016 is going down tomorrow, and the countdown’s two frontrunners have already talked each other up before their two hit singles go head-to-head for this year’s top spot.

It all kicked off last night, when Sydney producer Flume (whose hit single ‘Never Be Like You’ has a very strong chance of winning tomorrow’s countdown) reached out to Gold Coast singer-songwriter Amy Shark on Twitter, to praise her potential Hottest 100-winning track ‘Adore’:

A little later, a very modest Shark replied by thanking Flume, and saying she’ll be happy even if she scrapes in at the bottom of the countdown (which she wont):

‘Adore’ and ‘Never Be Like You’ are the current bookies’ favourites to take out this year’s Hottest 100, with Flume at slightly better odds than Shark at the time of writing.

That said, some Hottest 100 experts who are trying to predict this year’s results have told Music Feeds that Shark still has a very strong chance of taking out first place. Their full predictions will be published later today.

Over two million votes have been received for the Hottest 100 of 2016. Voting closed on Monday, and triple j will broadcast the results from midday AEDT tomorrow, 26th January.

Meanwhile, self-described “Hottest 100 enthusiast” Patrick Avenell this week shared his ‘Ultimate Historical Hottest 100 Playlist’, which shows how the countdown (and our music tastes) have changed over the years.

Stream ‘Adore’ and ‘Never Be Like You’ below, and place your (metaphorical) bets on who’ll take first place.
