UPDATE: Here’s who Hottest 100 experts are predicting will top this year’s countdown.

ORIGINAL STORY: Triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2016 is right around the corner, so to get listeners psyched for the annual countdown of publicly-voted songs, the broadcaster has shared some interesting details about the songs that make up this year’s countdown.

The Hottest 100 of 2016 has been confirmed as the most Aussie Hottest 100 ever, with a whopping 66 songs by Australian acts featuring in tomorrow’s countdown of 100 tracks. That’s the most Aussie songs ever seen in a Hottest 100. In total, there are songs from 13 different countries in the countdown.

23 acts appearing in this year’s Hottest 100 are making their Hottest 100 debut, and there are also 26 acts whose music first appeared on triple j Unearthed.

This year’s countdown has also broken a voting record, with 2,255,110 votes cast in this year’s ballot, up 7.6 per cent on last year.

Ahead of tomorrow’s countdown, current frontrunners Flume and Amy Shark have talked each other up before their two hit singles ‘Never Be Like You’ and ‘Adore’ go head-to-head for first place.

Self-described “Hottest 100 enthusiast” Patrick Avenell also shared his ‘Ultimate Historical Hottest 100 Playlist’ earlier this week, giving punters an insight into how the countdown (and music tastes) have changed over the years.

Voting for the 2016 Hottest 100 closed on Monday, and triple j will broadcast the results from midday AEDT tomorrow, 26th January. Find the start time for your state, below.

UPDATE: Triple j has announced that the date of future Hottest 100s will be decided in “the second half of 2017”, and listeners will have a say.
