UPDATE: Iron Maiden Announce New Melbourne Show For Their 2020 Australian Tour
Last week, Iron Maiden teased an Australian tour, and now the metal legends have confirmed they will indeed be returning in May 2020 to perform five arena dates around the country.
For their first Australian tour in four years, the band are promising far more than just another lap around the country, bringing the Legacy of the Beast live show to our shores after touring it around the globe since it began last year.
Based on the band’s mobile game of the same name, they were inspired to put together a stage show which takes fans through different visual worlds and experiences set to different songs throughout the band’s back catalogue. As such, the stops on the Legacy of the Beast tour feature extravagant production and a visually stunning show, paired with a career-spanning setlist.
“We’re immensely proud of this show and we’ve had great reactions from the many fans who came to see us in Europe, North America, Mexico and South America. The production for Australia is exactly the same as the other shows on this tour so far,” said frontman Bruce Dickinson about the tour.
“It is not that easy designing different Worlds on stage and we put a huge amount of work into this to make it work and the end result we feel is our most spectacular and certainly the most complex show to date.”
Dickinson says you can expect tons of pyrotechnics (including “some truly marvellous flame-throwers”), a replica Spitfire plane dominating the stage during ‘Aces High’, and of course, the band’s mascot Eddie, “as you’ve never seen him before.”
Having visited 39 countries around the globe since the tour began, including headlining a capacity crowd of 100,000 at Rock in Rio festival in Brazil, the band say they gave ample consideration to the setlist for this tour, mixing songs Maiden have not performed in years such as ‘Flight of Icarus’ and ‘Sign of the Cross’ with classic fan favourites like ‘The Trooper’, ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’, ‘The Number of the Beast’ and ‘Run to The Hills’.
Plus, joining Iron Maiden along for the ride will be Killswitch Engage. The US metalcore outfit released eighth studio album Atonement back in August of this year.
Check out tour dates below. Tickets go on sale Thursday, 14th November from midday via Ticketek. There’s an exclusive pre-sale for Iron Maiden Fan Club members – head here for the details – as well as a Telstra Plus member pre-sale from Monday, 11th November at 1pm. Head here for more info on that.
