Will Smith has appeared to smack Chris Rock and yell expletives at him while the comedian was onstage at the 2022 Oscars.
Per footage emerging from the event, Rock was presenting an award and seemingly joked about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith appearing in a GI Jane sequel due to her short hair.
Smith then appears to walk onto the stage and smack Rock in the face. It’s unclear from the footage whether the smack was staged.
Footage then shows Smith returning to his seat and shouting at Rock to “keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth”.

Jada Pinkett Smith announced last year she shaved her head due to her battle with alopecia. She shared in an Instagram post, “Now at this point, I can only laugh… y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia. Just all of a sudden, one day…it just showed up like that. Now, this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide. So, I thought I’d just share it so y’all not asking any questions…Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something. Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period!”
Not long after the incident, Smith won his first Oscar.
