Jack White‘s biggest competitor is Jack White and with each gig on his Lazaretto tour thus far he’s found a way to out do himself. The latest achievement was made in Chicago, where White channeled his inner Springsteen and busted out a 33-song, three-hour set – the longest of his career.
Reports Consequence of Sound, the Chicago performance included covers, live debuts, and an impressive 11-song encore. The Chicago crowd were treated to a debut live performance of the Lazaretto track Entitlement as well as covers of Jimi Hendrix’s Manic Depression, Bob Dylan’s Tell Me That It Isn’t True, Muddy Waters‘ Got My Mojo Working and Robert Johnson’s Stones in My Passway.
The show came to its eventual conclusion with a performance of Seven Nation Army, for which White plucked a fan out of the audience to accompany him on guitar. Just this week at concerts in North America, White unleashed a blues dirge cover of Lorde’s Royals and fused the White Stripes classic Icky Thump with Jay-Z’s 99 Problems and Misirlou from the Pulp Fiction soundtrack.
Prior to his gig, Jack White took in a Chicago Cubs baseball game at Wrigley Field and while the Cubs won the game 6-0, a photo of the bluesman surfaced online suggesting he
apparently did not enjoy the game. As goes the internet, the photo of the glum-looking musician has quickly gone viral and spurred the hilarious #SadJackWhite meme.
Time to move over, sad Kanye.
