During their recent appearance in Brazil, Metallica frontman James Hetfield took pause to praise his bandmates for their constant support.
The show at Estádio do Mineirão in Belo Horizonte, Brazil went down last Thursday (May 12). During the set, Hetfield opened up about not feeling too great about the idea of performing that night, and that it was his band who rallied around him and encouraged him it would be okay.
“I’ve gotta tell you, I wasn’t feeling very good before I came out here,” Hetfield said, before the band performed ‘Sad But True’.
“I was feeling a little bit insecure, like ‘I’m an old guy, can’t play anymore’. All this bullshit that I tell myself in my head.”
“So I talked to these guys, and they helped me; as simple as that. They gave me a hug and said, ‘Hey, if you’re struggling on stage, we’ve got your back. And I tell you, it means the world to me.”
The clip, which you can check out below, shows Robert Trujillo, Lars Ulrich and Kirk Hammett all embrace Hetfield in a hug, as the crowd applauds.
“Seeing you out there, I am not alone.” he added. “I am not alone, and neither are you.”
