Swedish singer/songwriter and sometimes storyteller Jens Lekman will finally be returning to Australia to bring his quirky crestfallen love tales to life on stage next February. He’ll be performing 4 dates, including headlining dates at Brisbane’s Zoo, on Melbourne’s Garden Party, at the Perth International Arts Festival, and a special Valentine’s Day show at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory.
Across his thirteen EPs and three albums, Lekman has taken us in the realm of the hopeless romantic. His songs have no boundarys, taking us down the path of bushfires and break-ups, Kirsten Dunst and avocados, sham marriages and drive-in bingo – his contagious deadpan and rapturous orchestration serving up life at its most heartbreaking, loving and absurd.
His first full-length in over five years, the newly released I Know What Love Isn’t uses string-kissed chamber-pop to tell of love from the flipside. Written and recorded between Melbourne and Gothenburg, it features Australian vocalists Sophia Brous – his duet partner on Erica America – and Kellie Sutherland of Architecture in Helsinki.
