Jon Stevens & Kate Ceberano Announce Co-Headlining 2024 Tour

Jon Stevens and Kate Ceberano have announced a national Australian tour, set to take place across October and November 2024. The co-headlining jaunt will see both veteran performers play both their own individual sets and perform on-stage together. A full run of dates, as well as ticketing information, can be accessed below.

The tour is dubbed the Superstars tour – so called on account of the pair having performed in the 1992 Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar together. Stevens played the role of Judas Iscariot, while Ceberano played the role of Mary Magdalene. As such, the tour will mark the first time the pair have shared a stage on tour for over 30 years.

In a press statement, Stevens reveals that it was an encounter with the pair’s mutual friend Delta Goodrem that spurred them on to launch the co-headlining tour. “Delta bought us together last December for her Christmas special, and requested that we perform ‘Everything’s Alright’,” he said.

“The response blew us away. It was magical, and afterwards we had so many people – Delta included – tell us we should do more with it. This encouragement, and the fact that it’s the 50th anniversary of Jesus Christ Superstar [this year], created the seeds from which the Superstars Live show have grown. We can’t wait to take it on the road.”

Ceberano, for her part, noted that she and Stevens have “never done a full show like this one” despite being friends for decades. “We’ve always had an awesome reaction to performing the JCS songs together, and the time was right for us to take it to the next level. We’re excited we can bring that back for those who saw us in the original production, and for a whole new generation.”

Stevens and Ceberano have also noted that the show will also feature a tribute to John Farnham, who portrayed the titular Jesus Christ in the 1992 production they were a part of. Farnham has not performed live in several years due to ongoing illnesses and his life-saving 2022 surgery.
