Ain’t no rest for the wicked, and no band is as wicked as Judas Priest. After just around year since their last album Firepower, the band are already apparently hard at work on the follow up.
Glenn Tipton, who had to retire from touring due to his battle with Parkinson’s disease, still remains an active member of the band when it comes to songwriting and recording. All that time off touring has apparently allowed Tipton to get started on the band’s 19th album.
According to Blabbermouth, frontman Rob Halford said on the Do You Know Jack? podcast that Tipton has already been making riffs for the new album.
“Glenn’s back in the U.K. now making riffs” he said.
“We have massive archives of riffs. It never stops. That’s the joy of (the band) in terms of creativity — we never seem to slow down. And when you get a successful record like ‘Firepower’, that motivates you even further. Any band will tell you that. You feed off the energy of what your fans are giving you.”
“You wanna see your fans again and you wanna bring your fans something different next time. So that means making another metal song, which, amplify that by 10 ideas, and you’ve got another album. So that’s the plan. There will be another album from us in the very near future.”
Judas Priest were in Australia just this year for Download Festival, so let’s hope it won’t be too long before we see them on our shores again.
