Six years after calling it a day, one of the most respected crews outside of mainstream hip-hop, Jurassic 5 have announced that they will embark on a 2014 tour of Australia, following their reunion at April’s Coachella Festival, which the group chased with tours of the UK, Europe, and the US.
J5 member Chali 2na has already been announced as Morcheeba‘s touring partner for a series of shows surrounding Bluesfest 2014, which will follow the announced reunion dates. As Tone Deaf reports, Chali 2na told Triple J how the group’s last visit to Australia was the impetus for their split.
“As a family, sometimes you don’t like your brother. We went through a period of that,” he told The Doctor, adding, “We as a group – we’ve been together almost 20 years now – you’re going to have your ups and downs. It’s just a trip because Australia really caught our down.”
Chali 2na, Mark 7even, Zaakir, Akil, and DJs Cut Chemist and Nu-Mark are now back at the top of their game and will kick off a series of reunion tour dates at The Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Wednesday, 19th March, before shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.
