The 2019 GRAMMY awards are finally over, and it was one of the more exciting years in a while. The nominees were diverse, the winners were well deserved and the performances were astounding.
Taking home the top honour of ‘Album Of The Year’ was country star Kacey Musgraves, for her stunning 2018 album Golden Hour. She also took home the award for ‘Best Country Album’, ‘Best Country Song’ and ‘Best Country Solo Performance’.
Childish Gambino was another big winner. Although he wasn’t in attendance to pick up his three Grammys, he won ‘Record Of The Year’, ‘Song Of The Year’ and ‘Best Music Video’ for ‘This Is America’.
In a somewhat unexpected surprise, Dua Lipa managed to win every Grammy she was nominated for tonight. She took home ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Dance Recording’ for her vocals in Mark Ronson & Diplo (Silk City)’s ‘Electricity’.
Lady Gaga managed to snag three awards this year. Two of them were for her duet with Bradley Cooper ‘Shallow’ – ‘Best Song Written For Visual Media’ and ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’ – and one was for a song that actually came out in 2016. She picked up the ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ award for ‘Joanne (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?)’
Other notable winners include Cardi B (‘Best Rap Album’), Beck (‘Best Alternative Album’), Led Zeppelin Greta Van Fleet (‘Best Rock Album’), Justice (‘Best Electronic Album’) and H.E.R., who actually picked up two awards, one for ‘Best R&B Album’ and one for ‘Best R&B Performance.’
