Karnivool Among New Acts Announced For Download Festival 2013

Perth prog metallers Karnivool are among 49 new acts added to the UK’s already massive Download Festival lineup. Slated for 3 days from 14th June, the Donnington Park festival now counts Papa Roach, Gogol Bordello and Buckcherry among their number, joining the nearly 50 bands previously announced. Aussie lads Parkway Drive and Airbourne are also on the bill, while Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein are this year’s headliners.

Karnivool have been locked away in the studio recently, putting the finish touches on their as-yet-untitled third album, the follow-up to 2008’s Sound Awake. Joining Karnivool in the latest announcement of acts are former Metallica bass-player Jason Newstead’s new band, the straight-to-the-point-titled Newstead, American god-rockers P.O.D and Swedish 70s veterans Europe, famous for their hit The Final Countdown.

Organisers have also issued a new poster, giving a bit more of an indication of who is playing where and when. You can also find the complete lineup here.
