Australian indie darling Katy Steele is coming home for a special one-off performance at The Basement in Sydney on Thursday, 9th October. Armed with a stack of fresh material written abroad, Steele will enlist the help of a full backing band and choir to bring to life her new music on stage.
Steele predicts she’ll be, “showing Sydney something they’ve never seen from me before,” when she takes The Basement stage. The WA musician’s confidence comes from overseas adventures, the experiences of which helped mould both songwriter and songs alike.
“While overseas I felt almost like a hunter in the wilderness, searching and searching, but like any challenge you find a strength you didn’t know existed,” says Steele. “I’ve walked into this new world as a warrior and the songs speak about my battles and triumphs as a human in modern times.”
Along with playing her latest music, which is expected to appear on her debut solo record due to be released in 2015, Steele will dip into classic material from her cherished pop band Little Birdy. No doubt fan favs like Beautiful to Me and Brother will sound something special with the help of a choir.
