Kesha Takes Aim At ‘Rich, White, Straight, Men’ On Surprising New Single

Written by Sosefina Fuamoli on June 5, 2019

Kesha lays her cards pretty much on the table with her new single, ‘Rich, White, Straight, Men’, another indicator of the strong and confident direction the singer is heading in with her new material.

Making her return in 2017 with her Rainbow album, the American artist has been dealing out new music and live shows to widespread praise. If you’ve been following along, her song ‘Here Comes The Change’ featured on the soundtrack to the Ruth Bader Ginsberg biopic On The Basis Of Sex, another example of the open and honest anthemic songwriting that’s beginning to mark this new chapter of Kesha’s catalogue.

This single isn’t what you’d expect to hear from Kesha, and that’s kind of the brilliant part about it. It’s still playful and pointed, sure, but the theatrics in the warped carousel-esque arrangement makes ‘Rich, White, Straight, Men’ an interesting earworm of a listen.

Dealing with themes of ownership, gender disparity and the overarching question of, “What if rich, white, straight men didn’t rule the world anymore?”, Kesha presents herself on form with this new tune.
