Khalid Announces Exclusive Sydney Opera House Shows

Khalid has announced his return to Australia for a whirlwind 48-hour visit, performing two shows in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House. Taking place across Monday August 5th and Tuesday August 6th, the two shows will see the American pop singer perform his upcoming third album Sincere for the first time live – just days after its official release on Friday, August 2nd.

“I’m so excited to be celebrating the release of my new album in a place I’ll always hold dear to my heart,” said Khalid in a post to his social media announcing the two world-exclusive shows. “It’s been five years since I’ve last seen you, Australia. I can’t wait to perform my entire album for the first time ever! So surreal to have gotten to this point once again.”

Khalid – ‘Ground’

Indeed, the last time Khalid was in Australia was for an arena tour circa December 2019, in support of his second studio album Free Spirit. He did, however, appear virtually at the Splendour XR festival in July 2021 during the second major national lockdown.

In his own press statement, Ben Marshall – the head of Contemporary Music at the Opera House – described Khalid as a “generation-defining artist”. “For two nights only, the acoustically-revitalised Concert Hall will transform into an intimate, in-the-round 2500-seat setting,” he explained. “[It’s] perfect for Khalid’s utterly sublime voice. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment and I’m beyond thrilled he’s bringing it here to share with us first.”

A pre-sale for Sydney Opera House Insiders is currently live, while a pre-sale for those subscribed to the Opera House’s newsletter will have access to a pre-sale from midday AEST tomorrow (July 24th). General sale for both shows will go live on Thursday, July 25th – again at midday AEST – via the official Sydney Opera House website.
