King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard’s 18th Studio Album ‘BUTTERFLY 3000’ Is Here

It has arrived! King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s 18th studio album, BUTTERFLY 3000 is here. It’s 10 songs and 44 minutes of King Gizz goodness.

They’ve traded in those fuzzy guitars and psych-metal sounds that underpin so much of their frankly, mammoth catalogue. Instead, BUTTERFLY 3000 is super weird.

It’s full of retro 80s sounds, jangly beats, and these indie psychedelic vibes. The new album is a lot of fun.

You can catch the new album’s tracklisting and album artwork down below.

The band explains that much of the new album saw them experiment with musical equipment they hadn’t used before —like modular synthesisers— explaining that newer sound.

“As we’re not very skilled at them and don’t have the deepest knowledge of this stuff, we’d get happy accidents – lots of weird, wrong, broken sounds we flipped and looped and turned into songs,” said King Gizz.

“We were trying to make upbeat dance music, in our own way, and we’d never gone there before,” says King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s Stu Mackenzie.
