Kraftwerk Banned From Performing In China

Germany’s Kraftwork are praised as genre-defining and influential, but it seems maybe too influential for the liking of the Chinese Government. The outfit have been denied visas to perform live in the country following an incident 15 years ago, that didn’t even happen.

As NME have stated, China is still sore that 15 years ago Kraftwerk were supposed to perform at a Tibetan Freedom Concert in Washington, D.C. The band never made the performance, as NME say, on account of it being rained off, but just the association is enough for China to deem the band a threat to their sovereignty.

Kraftwerk were originally meant to perform at Strawberry Festival, which kicks off in Beijing this weekend.

No love lost from the band’s point of view, who will continue to perform at Scotland’s T In The Park next up.
