American singer-songwriter Lalah Hathaway has released her eighth album titled ‘Vantablack’ through Hathaway Entertainment/SRG-ILS Group. The album consists of sixteen songs and includes the singles “So In Love,” “Mood For You” featuring MC Lyte and “I AM.”
Lalah Hathaway said the following about the track “I AM” : “I Am, I think people will be delighted to hear me with some tempo! I’m always trying to figure out how to apply these lush tones over dance music! How can I be featured on the subwoofer in your G Wagon? This is a four on the floor full of positive affirmation. I think I may have cracked the code!”
Lalah Hathaway – ‘Vantablack’
“Vantablack was always the name of the project,” continues Hathaway. “I started reframing how I saw color in terms of being the blackest I’ve ever been, and even though I’m steeped in who I am, it doesn’t exclude the other things that make up the sum of me. Similar to how all the music around me informs the Black music that I create. So it’s all a melting pot of all of me.”
Hathaway is going to start off her ‘Vantablack’ tour on Saturday, 24th August in Birmingham, Alabama, at BJCC Concert Hall. The tour would cover a total of 18 cities and would finally end on Saturday, 28th September at Charleston Music Hall in Charleston, South Carolina.
