Lana Del Rey has accidentally revealed the release date for her new album Ultraviolence while chatting with fans on the street. When asked directly by one fan when they could expect a new record, the singer answered directly, “It’s coming out soon. May 1st.”
Del Rey, upon realising the entire exchange was being recorded on camera, tried to backtrack, emphasising that the date was not officially confirmed. You can watch the scene unfold below. Fans were visibly smitten by the singer who was comfortably engaging with them, signing autographs and even singing Happy Birthday to one swooning adorer.
Del Rey even spoke a little about the new record. “It’s so good that it made me forget about the last record,” she told the crowd, referring to 2012’s highly successful Born To Die. “I’m in love with it. I have that romantic feeling about it.”
Lana Del Rey revealed that her third studio album will be titled Ultraviolence at the launch event for her short film Tropico last year. Appearing onstage at a screening of Tropico in Hollywood, Del Rey told fans, “I really just wanted us all to be together so I could visually close the chapter before I release my new album, Ultraviolence.
Last month, Lana Del Rey revealed new song Once Upon A Dream, the theme song from the soundtrack to the new Disney film Maleficient. Ultraviolence‘s May 1 US release date has not been officially confirmed by Del Rey’s record label.
