Lead Guitarist Of Indigenous Rock Band The Lonely Boys Dies In Car Accident

The lead guitarist of Indigenous rock band The Lonely Boys — who supported Queens Of The Stone Age during a recent Australian tour — has died in a motor vehicle accident.

The guitarist, whose name and image has been withheld in respect to his family, was involved in the accident on Sunday, 21st October, the band’s label Skinnyfish Music has confirmed.

“Our label will miss him dearly as will the vast NT music industry and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family,” reads a statement from Skinnyfish Music.

“He was much loved by his community and throughout wider South East Arnhem Land. He was always a feature at The Barunga Festival and had strength of character and a sharp wit that would charm anyone from local Ngukurr family to Adam Briggs and Josh Homme.”

The Lonely Boys rose to national attention after supporting Queens Of The Stone Age at the Darwin leg of their 2017 Australian tour, when they performed in front of 3,000 people.

The six-piece band also claims the NT Rock Song of the Year in 2016 with ‘Murray Island’, from their EP The Hunter.
