Linkin Park Sydney Shows Still Expected To Go Ahead, Despite Last-Minute Adelaide Cancellation

Fans heading to Linkin Park’s upcoming Sydney shows can breathe a little easier tonight.

Despite the band cancelling tonight’s Adelaide Entertainment Centre performance just hours before doors, their remaining Aussie tour dates – two Sydney arena shows this weekend – are currently still expected to go ahead as planned.

The band confirmed earlier today that the Adelaide show had been scrapped due to illness within the touring party, and would sadly not be rescheduled.

In a statement shared to social media, Linkin Park said they didn’t make the decision lightly:

“We have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel tonight’s show due to an illness in the band.

The Australian tour has been incredible so far and we are devastated that we’re unable to perform for our fans in Adelaide.

Unfortunately, the show will not be rescheduled. Please know that cancelling a show is not a decision we take lightly.

We are sorry to those fans who were planning to attend.”

The cancellation was particularly tough news for Adelaide fans, with the show close to selling out and marking the band’s first Australian tour in 13 years.

However, according to reporting from Seven News, promoters say no other Australian tour dates will be affected, with the remaining shows expected to proceed as scheduled.

The band are currently midway through their From Zero World Tour, which kicked off locally in Brisbane last week before moving through two Melbourne arena shows.

The run marks Linkin Park’s first Aussie performances since 2013, and their first local shows with new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong – formerly of Dead Sara – who joined the band for their latest chapter alongside Mike Shinoda, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, “Mr.” Joe Hahn and Colin Brittain.

The tour supports the band’s new album From Zero, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and sees the group mixing fresh material with the career-defining hits that helped shape the nu metal era.

So far, the shows have delivered a hefty setlist packed with classics including In The End, Numb, Crawling and One Step Closer, alongside new tracks like Heavy Is The Crown and The Emptiness Machine.

For Sydney ticket-holders, the plan remains unchanged for now – though fans will no doubt be keeping a close eye on updates ahead of the weekend.

Meanwhile, Adelaide ticket holders won’t need to take any action, with refunds set to be processed automatically.

We’ll keep you updated with more info about the Sydney shows if anything changes – but for the now, the tour is expected to roll on.
