Listen: Josh Homme & Nick Oliveri New Song ‘The Last Train’

It’s been around 8 years since Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri last collaborated together on Queens of the Stone Age’s 2004 record Songs for the Deaf.

Since that time, the former bandmates have gone on to write, record and perform in a multitude of different musical outlets, with Oliveri mainly dedicating himself to his Mondo Generator project, which originally began back in 1997.

As pointed out by Consequence of Sound, Mondo Generator’s upcoming record, Hell Comes to Your Heart, features a slew of impressive collaborators, but perhaps none stand out more than the inclusion of Josh Homme and Kyuss Lives! member John Garcia, who both feature on the record’s final track The Last Train.

The collaboration comes as somewhat of a surprise considering that Homme and Garcia are involved in a legal battle over the use of the name Kyuss.

As Music Feeds reported back in March, Homme, along with fellow former Kyuss member Scott Reeder, filed a lawsuit against their old Kyuss bandmates, Garcia and Brant Bjork.

Although Garcia and Bjork continued the band under the moniker of Kyuss Lives!, Home and Reeder released an official statement explaining that they felt there was no option left but to take legal action.

Garcia and Bjork in turn released their own official statement, expressing regret that the matter had broken down to the point of lawsuits and that they intended to resolve the matter privately.

Of course, Homme and Oliveri have their own storied history, but, for the most part, have remained on good terms with each other throughout the years. Whatever the current level of friendship between the three musicians (who have all featured in some version of Kyuss or Kyuss Lives!) they have all managed to come together for at least one more track.

The Last Train showcases Garcia’s vocals against Homme’s harmonies and, as you’ve probably assumed, is one rocking affair. Check it out:
