Tegan And Sara’s 6th and latest full-length album has created a lot of buzz. Heartthrob marked a huge departure for the once folk-rock duo, who found themselves dabbling in the world of dreamy synths, deep bass and poppy hooks. But did they pull it off? Well, you can now see for yourself with the album currently streaming online in its entirety at Rolling Stone, and selected tracks on their SoundCloud.
The evolution of their sound was no accident. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Tegan explained, “We did have to make a conscious effort to make our record sonically more smooth and pleasing… We didn’t want to take a small step. We wanted to take a big step.” Some weren’t convinced by the change in direction, including Music Feeds writer Fletcher, who reviewed the album but was left feeling pretty unimpressed. “Hopefully this is just an anomaly in Tegan and Sara’s career,” he commented.
Heartthrob will hit shelves both digitally and otherwise on January 29th, but you won’t have to wait any longer to check it. Happy listening.
