FKA Twigs has made her return to music after almost two years of relative silence, with the release of her new single ‘Don’t Judge Me’.
The song, which also features Headie One and British singer-songwriter Fred Again, dropped earlier today (January 27) following Twigs teasing new music at the beginning of the week. The shorter version of the track originally featured on Headie One and Fred Again’s joint 2020 mixtape GANG.
Sharing a snippet of the stunning self-directed music video on social media, Twigs wrote, “so proud to release don’t judge me into the world. this project is very personal and special to me.”
“it was an honour to shoot with (famed architect and sculptor) kara walkers’ fountain exploring the interconnection of black history between africa, america and europe,” she continued.
“thank you to everyone for making don’t judge me come to life.”
This marks FKA twigs’ first single as a lead artist since the release of her second studio album MAGDALENE back in 2019.
This is also Headie One’s first single of 2021, following his huge year in 2020. Over the weekend, he made his Hottest 100 debut with ‘Ain’t It Different’ with Stormzy and AJ Tracey, coming in at #48.
