Sydney electro-pop band Van She have finally released their second single Jamaica, after the success of Idea of Happiness off the album of the same name. It’s described as being a romantic paean to an idyllic island in dreams. Jamaica takes the sound of Idea of Happiness out to the end of the jetty and kicks it off the edge into the tropical depths.
Van She will play a string of shows this July in support of the new album, playing headline shows across 9 dates, and starting off in Perth on the 5th, which also happens to be the eve of the album’s release. Sydney band RüFüS will support them on most dates.
Idea of Happiness was recorded, engineered and produced by the band in their Kings Cross studio, which allowed them the time to fine-tune their synths. Mixing was done in Los Angeles with Tony Hoffer, who is best known for his work with Beck, Air, Phoenix and M83.
