Tasmanian punk rock quartet Luca Brasi are set to unwrap their second album By A Thread this coming March and have announced a national tour alongside labelmates Postblue to boot.
The band who cut their teeth playing the loungerooms and filthy pubs of Tassie first hit national radars when they dropped their 2011 debut album Extended Family to the delight of fans across the country, scoring the band a spot in Triple J’s Short Fast Loud midyear report. They’ve since brought their unique sense of youthful abandon and infectious enthusiasm to stages across Australia.
Luca Brasi scored an unlikely slot on the 2012 Falls Festival, have overtaken Melbourne’s Corner Hotel with a gutful of bile at the Poison City Weekender, and toured with certified pop punk legends Bodyjar and celebrated US punkers Title Fight this year.
This second album pushes the signature Luca Brasi sound into more dynamic territory. Recorded live in the company of friends, over two weeks in Hobart, By A Thread was mixed by US veteran Matt Bayles, whose production and mixing work can be heard on albums by Pearl Jam and Isis.
Luca Brasi will join forces with Postblue to launch the new album across Australia by way of a huge national tour starting next March, including an April show at a secret venue in Hobart. Somehow, they’ll also find the time for appearances on the Breath Of Life and Push Over Festivals.
