Machine Gun Kelly Opens Up About Sobriety Journey

Machine Gun Kelly, the 34-year-old musician known for his raw and candid lyrics, has openly discussed his journey to sobriety from alcohol and other substances. Born Colson Baker, the artist has had past struggles with alcohol, cocaine, and heroin, but he is now focused on recovery and a healthier lifestyle.

In a recent interview on the Dumb Blonde Podcast, Kelly revealed, “I’m completely sober from everything. I don’t drink anymore. I haven’t drunk since last August.” He shared that he secretly entered rehab after completing his 2023 European Tour, a decision known only to those closest to him. “That was the first time I ever went to rehab,” he said. “They just gave me so many ways to operate the body and show where this anger is coming from and methods to quell it.”

Kelly spoke about his experiences with multiple psychiatrists and therapists, noting that some gave up on him while others helped him gain awareness of his condition. “I ended up falling into an awareness of what my condition is and have made peace with it. It’s a constant tightrope walk,” he explained.

His debut album, Lace Up (2012), detailed his battles with heroin addiction and referenced cocaine use. However, Kelly’s determination to change is driven by his desire to be better for his fiancée, Megan Fox, and his daughter, Casie.

The artist’s candidness about his sobriety journey highlights the challenges and triumphs of overcoming addiction, offering hope and inspiration to many facing similar struggles.
