Machine Gun Kelly Opens Up About Troubled Relationship with Mother

Machine Gun Kelly recently shared insights into his complicated relationship with his mother during a candid conversation with Bunnie XO on the eighth season opener of her popular podcast, Dumb Blonde. In the interview, Kelly expressed his deep love for his mother and acknowledged how he misrepresented her early in his career.

“I would like to say for the record I love my mom dearly and I misrepresented her a lot early in my career,” Kelly admitted. He clarified that while he was speaking his truth, he did not offer people the chance to understand his mother’s perspective.

Machine Gun Kelly’s Complicated Relationship With His Mother

Kelly’s mother left the family when he was young, which led to many years of estrangement. During this period, the singer felt abandoned as he claimed she hadn’t searched for him. “You gotta get to me… come f**king find me no matter what it takes,” he expressed, reflecting on his feelings during those years.

In 2019, Kelly addressed his struggles with his mother in his song “Burning Memories,” which includes poignant lyrics about his longing and disappointment: “I spent 20 years waiting on the stairs / Now I’m finished thinking anyone ever hear these prayers.”

In 2021, Kelly reconciled with his mother, marking a significant step towards healing. He shared a photo of the two together on Instagram in 2022, captioning it, “Introducing my mom.”

The full podcast episode where Kelly discusses these personal experiences debuted on Monday, August 5th.
